Once you have expressed interest in serving with NET Ministries, you will receive an email or phone call from the NET Australia Recruiting Department followed by an emailed application form. After you fill that in with a picture of yourself, you can email it back to the Recruiting Department.
Your 2 references will need to email their filled in forms to the Recruiting Department directly, as we cannot receive references via you. Once your application is in, one of our recruiters will get in touch with you and book in an interview. If you can’t come to Brisbane, it will be over Skype or Facetime, so please do send your username details to us!
Once you have sent in an application form a staff member will book a time for an interview with you.
The interview will be conducted with 2 staff members who will go ask you some questions to get a better picture of who you are and if you are called to serve with NET. The interview can be anywhere from 45 mins – 1 hour and 30 mins. The interview is designed to help us discern your application. It can be daunting to be interviewed but know that every staff member has been through the process themselves and they just want to get to know you.
NET welcomes expressions of interest and applications from overseas. We regularly get Canadians, Americans, New Zealanders, Irish, British, Ugandans and others serving with us.
The process is the same for those who are overseas but depending on your nationality status you will likely need a visa. This process can be quite complicated but the best way to approach it is to make sure you have a few things.
The first is…a passport! You cannot enter Australia without one so please get one if you don’t or renew it if it is running out. Your passport will need to be valid for the whole year you are here for.
The second is patience! Depending on when you are accepted it can be a long process so be patient. As well as that, it will require you to be on top of the visa application. Our staff will help you out lots but you will need to get on to it quick once you are accepted.
NET Ministries Australia considers non-married, practicing Catholics between the ages of 17-30. If you meet this criteria, and you have an interest in mission and for serving the church or you think NET might be something you want to do then get in touch with us.
You may send in your application as early as January 1 for application of the following year. If you apply earlier than this, you may be asked to re-apply closer to the date. This is because much can happen in a person’s life in one year and we need the most up-to-date information about our applicants as possible. If you have any questions about this you can contact our Recruiting Coordinator on (07) 3217 5299.
The best way to get an application form is to send in an expression of interest through our website (here). This gives our recruiters your information and they will get in touch with you as soon as they can.
The best thing is to fill it out! You might be unsure if you really want to serve with NET, but if you fill it out it can help you in your discernment. It might also prompt some questions you need to ask our recruiters or even yourself. You will need to get 2 references from people that know you quite well. They can’t be family members. A parish priest, school teacher, boss or someone who has worked closely with you.
Yes, we require you to answer all the questions. Your application is all we have to go on when deciding how to proceed with the application process. Answer the questions to the best of your ability.
The picture is used for identification purposes only. A picture helps staff put a face to a name, and also if we need to identify those being picked up at the airport, bus or train stations.
Yes. Since NET team members are ministering in Catholic parishes and schools, team members do need to be practicing Catholics. We also expect all of our applicants to have received the necessary sacraments (Baptism, Holy Communion and Confirmation) give us a call if you are unsure about your situation. (07) 3217 5299
The recruiters will read through your application and then book a time to give you a call and book an interview with you (click here for interview process)
We try to get in touch with you as soon as we can to book this in. It might be a phone call, face to face, or a Skype interview depending on where you are in the world.
This all depends on whether you are called and ready to serve with NET ministries. After the interview you will be given a call and informed if you are being asked to serve with NET.
