A NET Encounter Day includes elements of experiential learning, debates, creative/relational activities, small group discussion, drama, personal faith sharing, music, prayer and liturgy. A wide range of relevant themes have been carefully designed for your students.

Introduction

Middle / Senior Format (Years 9-12)

NET Ministries has developed a new Encounter Day (E-Day) format for Years 9-12, that seeks to engage students reasoning, judgement, application and evaluative skills while exploring the E-Day theme.

This is achieved through the use of the small group agreements, topical debates, experience based learning activities and prayer experiences. Like every NET E-Day, the goal is to encourage students to make connections between their day to day life and faith in Jesus Christ. All input is tailored to the particular year level.

Junior Format (Years 6-8)
Junior NET Encounter Days use songs, games, dramas, small groups and inspiring personal sharings to demonstrate a personal faith that is exciting and relevant. NET teams offer students an experience that is both fun and engaging, drawing students to prayerfully reflect upon the place of Jesus Christ in their everyday lives.

Steppin’ Up - Senior (NEW)

What shapes our values? This Senior ‘Leadership’ Encounter Day focuses on value driven leadership with Jesus being our ultimate example. Students research and analyse the leadership style of historical leaders, then compare this to the leadership style of Jesus. Students have the opportunity to look at how God has gifted them as a leader as well as their friends/classmates. What leadership qualities do I possess?

Steppin’ Up – Junior (NEW)

Students have the opportunity to look at how God has gifted them as a leader as well as their friends/ classmates.

Arms Wide Open

So often for young people, God’s love is an abstract concept. During this Encounter Day, the young people have an opportunity to hear from the team about how they have experienced God’s love in tangible ways and how it has impacted their lives.

Everybody’s Doin’ It (NEW)

Young people are constantly bombarded with one message towards sex and that is ‘Do it’. It is imperative that young people today hear an alternative, counter cultural, radical message that provides them with another life giving option. This ‘Sexuality’ Encounter Day begins with our Identity in Christ, then explores what society says about sex and how that influences our attitude towards our sexuality and finally God’s plan for our sexuality; that He actually doesn’t say ‘No’ to sex, He says WAIT.

Worth What?

Dealing with issues of self-worth, personal confidence and acceptance is common among all young people. The ‘Self Image’ Encounter Day, designed for co-educational schools, helps young people to come to a greater awareness of their goodness and uniqueness as God’s son’s and daughters.

Survivor (NEW)

What does it mean to be a man? Survival of the fittest? He with the best trophy wins? This ‘Self Image’ Encounter Day explores the theme of manhood and the role that faith offers to play in young men’s lives.

What Do You See? (NEW)

What do I think about myself and how does that influence my choices? This ‘Self I mage’ Encounter Day specifically designed for young women, celebrates womanhood and encourages students to reflect on their identity as a woman and what has influenced that attitude.

Everywhere But Here

St Augustine captured a profound truth when he said, ‘You have made us for yourself God and our hearts are restless until they rest in you.’ While it is possible (and good) to find happiness in every day life, true, lasting happiness and ultimate meaning in life comes through a personal relationship with God. This ‘Search’ theme is explored in the context of personal testimony.

Road trip

What is the real purpose and meaning of life? What’s really important to me? Where does God fit into my life and my future? The ‘Life Choices’ Encounter Day invites young people to make their faith the key component in answering life’s biggest questions.

The Apprentice

One of the criticisms Gandhi made of Christians was that they didn’t much resemble Christ. This ‘Discipleship’ Encounter Day challenges young people to see how much their lives resemble that of Christ and offers positive steps in following Christ’s personal call on their lives.

He Said ; She Said

Am I willing to do what’s right even if it means going against my friends? Am I a follower or a leader? How do I handle alcohol, drugs, bullying? These and other tough issues will be addressed in the ‘Peer Pressure’ Encounter Day.

Ctrl-Alt-Delete

Who has experienced a relationship that has gone wrong? Read any magazine, watch all the reality television programs, read the newspapers and you’ll read about relationships that have gone wrong.  This ‘Forgiveness’ Encounter Day is a reminder that Jesus is interested in our ordinary life experiences and has given us a way to deal with broken relationships through repentance and forgiveness.  His way helps us to bring peace and love into our own lives and relationships.

Encounter Jesus

This theme explores the personal journey of team members and their experience of responding to the invitation to ‘Encounter Jesus’ as well as giving the young people an opportunity to reflect on their journey and respond to that invitation.
